| Initial designs are created by molding wax to desired shapes.
| Several completed wax designs are "connected" together at a wax base for economy.
| The wax art is submerged in plaster to make a reverse mold of the image. Wait for the cast to
harden.
| Place the plaster mold in an oven to "bake" the wax images away leaving a hollow or
reverse mold. This is a "lost wax casting" from the original images.
| Heat up desired metal to melting point.
| The molten metal is poured into the plaster casting. A centrifuge is used to force the metal into
the reverse molds at high speed
| Cool the casting block in water to room temperature. The water softens the plaster making it easy
to break it apart to extract the metal molds.
| Wash away the plaster from the metal molds.
| Examples of several pieces of metal works of art after plaster has been removed, but before they
have been separated.
- |
| Separate the individual pieces and file away the connecting trunk.
| Polish pieces in a tumbler.
| Add back stones according to placements in original wax design.
| Finished Piece.
